We just wanted to share the awesome news that 4 of our NAMS students were accepted to the Southeast MMEA Junior District Festival this past weekend. Students are all given a specific piece to learn and present in front of an adjudicator and are also expected to sight read (play or sing a song on first sight with no preparation) and sing or play a scale. Students from all over Southeastern Massachusetts attend these auditions for a chance to be selected to perform in March with master conductors in band, orchestra, jazz band, and chorus. The students who scored high enough to be admitted are...
Samuel Degon- Percussion- Orchestra
Sai Dinesh Lakshman- Choir
Asher Webster- Choir
Chloe LeVatt- Choir
In addition, we had two 9th graders from NAHS accepted into the Choir, Aashriya Das, and Angela Tavares.
Even our students who auditioned and were not accepted had high scores and were only a few points off from acceptance. This is such an incredible way for us to promote excellence within our programs and a great learning experience for all who audition.
We're very excited about their huge accomplishments and so proud of all of our students for having the courage and determination it takes to audition for a festival such as this.
Thank you again again for your continued support of the NAMS music program!
