October 21, 2022
Dear North Attleborough Community,
I hope this message finds you well! It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of October - the months seem to be flying by. I am extremely pleased at how the school year is progressing, and it feels good to be back to “normal”. Our students, faculty, and staff have really risen to the challenge this year, and I think the North Attleborough Public Schools are as strong as ever. Please note the following:
New Website and App
Be on the lookout for a separate email (likely Monday) announcing the official launch of our new district website and NAPS App. I think you will like the changes, and I am confident it will greatly enhance our school-to-home communication.
MCAS Results Coming Next Week
Each year students in grades 3 and up participate in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) testing. During the spring of 2022, students in our district were assessed in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Students in grades 5 & 8 also participated in the MCAS Science assessment. The state has released the results of these assessments, and we will be using these results to determine areas of strength and areas for improvement across the district.
Next Friday, October 28, 2022, we will be sending individual score reports home to families. For each test your child took in spring 2022, the report shows your child’s score (between 440 and 560) and an associated achievement level. Pages 2-4 of the report will include your child’s scores on each test and provide a description of each achievement level. The district uses this information alongside other district assessments and your child’s progress in class to determine how we can best support your child’s learning and growth at school.
If you have any questions about the assessment report, please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher or school administrator. We look forward to working in partnership with families to provide the best educational experience possible for all North Attleborough students.
New School Resource Officer
Please join me in welcoming our new School Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Jimmy Morse, to the District. We have an extremely strong partnership with the North Attleborough Police Department, and we are fortunate to have an SRO in our schools buildings - it is a critically important role and it makes our schools safer.
YMCA / Minding Your Mind Workshops
I want to bring to your attention two workshops that may be of interest to you. The Hockomock Area YMCA is proud to partner with Minding Your Mind to provide education through community workshops that focus on mental well-being, resiliency and supportive strategies. The attached flyer provides more information about two free workshops, Mindful Caregiving of K-5 Youth (Tuesday, October 25) and Creating A Calm Holiday Season (Monday, December 5). Workshops are free and open to all. No YMCA membership required
Enjoy a few pictures below from around the district. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
John J. Antonucci
