The North Attleborough Public Schools is committed to supporting students and families while experiencing living challenges to ensure they reach academic, health, social, emotional and behavioral proficiency.

McKinney-Vento Education Program

The McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless children as "individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence." Students meet the definition for McKinney-Vento status if their dwelling arrangement/primary night time residence is:

  • a shelter

  • doubled-up (sharing the housing of others due to loss of housing, economic hardship)

  • unsheltered (cars, parks, campgrounds, abandoned buildings, and substandard/inadequate housing)

  • a hotel/motel

Supports and services available to a student experiencing homelessness may include:

  • Transportation to and from school

  • School food; breakfast and lunch

  • Title 1 educational services
