October 10, 2024 - School Building Committee Votes on Preferred Option
On October 10, we reached a significant milestone in the High School building project when the School Building Committee unanimously voted to advance our "Preferred Option" to the MSBA. This means that this option will move forward for further design and, ultimately, be voted on in June 2025.
Click here to view the presentation from the meeting. Of particular interest are the preliminary cost estimates for all five options (Slide 23) and the final evaluation matrix (Slide 24). Please note that the Preferred Option is a new building, N3.
While we have a lot of work ahead over the next eight months, especially in engaging the community about the project, this is an exciting step forward.

May 2023 - North Attleborough invited into Feasibility Study Phase
NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH — Superintendent John Antonucci and the North Attleborough School Committee are pleased to announce that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has invited North Attleborough Public Schools into the Feasibility Phase for the North Attleborough High School Project.
The MSBA Board of Directors voted on Wednesday, April 26, to advance the North Attleborough High School proposal. Acceptance into this phase means the Town and District will collaborate with the MSBA on working toward the best solution to the problems identified for North Attleborough students.
The Feasibility Phase includes documenting existing conditions, generating a space summary, establishing design parameters and developing and evaluating renovation and construction alternatives.
The Feasibility Phase takes 18 to 24 months to complete. Work in this phase will be submitted to the MSBA, which will then consider whether to admit NAPS into its Design Phase.
“On behalf of the North Attleborough community, I want to thank the MSBA Board of Directors for their support of our high school building project,” said Superintendent Antonucci. “The current state of our 50-year-old building falls short in meeting the demands of a 21st-century education, and we appreciate the MSBA’s commitment to investing in modern facilities that foster innovation and excellence for all public school students. We are excited to work together in partnership with the MSBA team to transform our high school into a premier facility.”
Throughout the Feasibility Study and Schematic Design phase, the District will invite North Attleborough residents to participate in the design process to ensure that whatever type of project the district moves forward with best reflects the needs and wants of the community.
North Attleborough High School serves all North Attleborough students in grades 9-12, about 1,107 students. The building faces numerous issues due to its age including spaces that are inflexible and lack in capacity, which limits the District’s efforts to effectively deliver a broad range of programming to all students.
Currently, the District and the School Building Committee are collaborating with the MSBA to select an Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) and a design firm. It is expected that an OPM will begin in the fall.
For more information about the Feasibility Study Phase, please refer to the MSBA Website: Module 3 - Feasibility Study
March 2022
At its March 2, 2022 Board of Directors’ Meeting, the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) voted to invite North Attleborough High School into the MSBA’s Eligibility Period. The Eligibility Period "formalizes and streamlines the beginning of the MSBA’S grant process and benefits the Town by providing a definitive schedule for the completion of the preliminary requirements , assisting with the determination of financial and community readiness, and identifying needs for planning and budgeting". North Attleborough High School was selected after five attempts.
Successful completion of all activities in the Eligibility Period will allow the Town to be eligible for an MSBA invitation to Feasibility Study. The 270-day Eligibility Period commenced on July 1, 2022 and ends on March 28, 2023.
Invitation into the Eligibility Period is not an Invitation to Feasibility Study. Moving forward in the MSBA’s process requires collaboration with the MSBA, and an invitation to Feasibility Study will require a further vote of the MSBA Board of Directors.
